President's Report

President’s Newsletter

Oct 2020

We’ve now had two chapter meetings, virtually.  Both meetings used the Zoom platform, graciously provided by Society.  Our meeting in August was presented by Matt Tharp with Zurn, with information about Smart Building Technology for Clean Facilities.  There was so much information; we’ve suggested Matt develop his seminar to a webinar level, for future use.  The September meeting was presented by Steve Torrez with Pattons Medical.  Steve presented different types of air and vacuum equipment and system selection criteria.  There was a good Q&A session following the presentation.
Our October meeting is certainly relevant to our times.  Carmen Gonzalez will provide information for us to help prevent Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs), as we design.  “Read More” on our website Events page.
Golf is just two weeks away!  South Lakes Golf Course will be the location for the Tulsa contingency on Monday, October 12.  Oklahoma City folks will enjoy the Kickingbird Golf Club on Friday, October 16.  Details can be found on our website.  This is the same week as our Chapter meeting – see you at both!
The Board continues to hold meetings via Zoom, keeping up with Chapter business and preparing for future meetings and events.  All are welcomed to attend a Board meeting, please contact [email protected] for details.  Also, use this email address to offer any ideas for Chapter activities.  The next Board meeting is October 20, 11:30a.
Thanks to Matt Marshall, and now Andrew Herndon for sharing a brief biography.  We plan to have a brief biography of each Board member so you can get to know the Board.  We’re just regular folk, like you.
Join us at our next chapter meeting, live, via Zoom!

Learn more about your Correspondence Secretary

Andrew Herndon, Correspondence Secretary

Hey everyone,

I’m fairly new to ASPE but I’ve been serving as Corresponding secretary for the last few months. I graduated from OSU in December 2018 and immediately went to work at MPW engineering. In 2020 I moved to Cyntergy AEC. I also joined ASPE where my main focus has been making sure we get all our events on the website and looking for ways to improve the website for members and nonmembers alike. If that sounds like something you want to help with I’m looking for one or perhaps two people to help move things along!

I’ve got four fur babies (I started with one and they just kept coming around and staying) and a lovely wife who I woo'd by following the dogs’ example.  I love traveling and most things outdoors. My hobbies are mountain and road biking, hiking, SCUBA diving, trying new foods and watching the cowboys underwhelm in football and men’s basketball.

For more information about helping me out with the website please contact me at [email protected]

Get to know your VP of membership!

Matt Marshall, Vice president of membership

I have been serving as VP of Membership for ASPE Oklahoma since 2018. Prior to that I served for 2 years as the ASPE Young Professional Liaison. I am currently an Account Manager for Texas Air Systems, representing PVI water heaters in Oklahoma for the past 6 years.

My focus as VP Membership is to grow membership through creating value for each member. I maintain the membership database through our Star Chapter software and talk about ASPE every chance I get.  My duties as VP Membership are simple and I am able to keep up the membership rolls via national reports and automated emails generated when new members join.

My family and I reside in Burleson, TX where I grew up as a kid. My wife and I have been married for 5 years and have 2 children at home ages 2 years and 4 months. I enjoy anything outdoors including golf, hunting, and fishing to name a few. My love for DFW sports teams sometimes clashes with my Oklahoma friends, but at least I am not a Longhorn. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. My passion is finding long term solutions for everyday problems to make life more enjoyable.

I currently have 2 Membership Committee chairs available that we are looking to fill for the 20-21 ASPE year. I am hoping for one in the Oklahoma City area and one in the Tulsa area. Your responsibilities will be limited, but your input is much needed. I look forward to meeting those of you I haven’t met yet and introducing new members at meetings, when we start meeting in person again.

Any questions? Please feel free to contact me at: [email protected]
